I Went to Mount Magazine in Arkansas for a Spinning and Knitting Extravaganza weekend.
This was the sunrise at the lodge. I took it through a window that had a screen on it but it was just so beautiful.
We went to a couple of yarn stores. One in Russellville called Knit 2 Together.

And the other one in Fort Smith called Stringtown.
We all had a great time!! I took lots of pictures. so many that there is not enough room to share. THey would also fill up my Flickr account if I put them all in there.

We had a vendors room in the Lodge at Mount Magazine.
Everyone was feeling all the wonderful fiber, from yarn to fleeces.
I finished the Monster hat for my grandson.
The pattern is in the sidebar with my other patterns.

I now need to make another one for my granddaughter. Then I have 2 leg warmers to make for my two granddaughters. Still lots of Christmas knitting.
Have a great day!!
God Bless You!!

Projects OTN

I got the Quilt finished and wrapped for my Grandson's birthday. Now I am working on the Monster hats. I'm making two of them one for my grandson and one for my granddaughter. I think I will make wrist warmers to go with them. I also have a thought to make some leg warmers for my two granddaughters. I have a pair of socks on the needle for my daughter. I don't know if I have enough time to get all of them done. But new ideas keep coming. Ideas to make this and that.
I am going to a Sit and Spin/knit at Mount Magazine this weekend. I am really excited. this is my first fiber weekend. We are going to visit a couple of yarn stores too. It is so hard to decide what I am going to take with me to knit. I would take the monster hats but the yarn takes up so much space. So I think I will take some smaller projects. I may be running around so much that I won't have much time to knit anyway. I will let you all know how it goes.
Have a great day!!
God Bless You!!

Christmas Knitting

I have the socks done! I am glad to be finished with them. Now today I'm going to work on the Wall-E quilt for my grandsons birthday. He will be 4 years old on the 10th. He picked out the Wall-E sheet for the back of the quilt. it came in a whole set with a flat a fitted and a pillowcase. So it will be a set for his bed all together. But the flat sheet will be a quilt instead. I have squares cut out and ready to sew together. I hope I have enough of them cut. I will find out in the next couple of days. I am also working on my Monster hats and some Peace socks for my Daughter. I think I will do some leg warmers for my Granddaughters.
I don't know what else I could fit in and get done before Christmas. I may think of something!!
Have a great day!!
God Bless You!!

Well here is my progress on my 3 pairs of socks on two circular needles. I am in the process of turning the heels on them. I am ready to get these finished and do some holiday knitting. I am also working on a wall-e quilt for my grandson for his birthday. I bought a Wall-e sheet to use as the backing. The front will be just plain squares.

Knitting at NASCAR

Hi!! We went to the NASCAR races at the Texas Speedway last weekend. I took my knitting. I am in the progress of knitting three pairs of socks at a time on two circular needles. I made some progress at the races but not as much as I wanted to. But at least I have proof that I knitted at the NASCAR races!
On other knitting I made my grandson an Alligator scarf! And I made my granddaughter a Bunny Buddy blanket. So I have been quite busy.

I am doing two different patterns on the socks. One pattern is Susanna and the other is Komet, both by Stefanie Van Der Linden. I found the patterns on Ravelry.
Have a great day!!

At this time I am designing a new sock pattern that I am calling Harvest socks. I will put that pattern up in Ravelry when it is done.
Have a great day!!

Flip Flop Socks

I got the Flip Flop socks all done!
It was a challenge to do but they are done.
I am working on writing up the pattern and I will put it in Ravelry.

My Granddaughter is wearing them in these pictures. She says they look like mittens for your feet. I was hoping that she would have worn Flip Flops today so we could get a picture with them but she didn't.
Have a great day!

I have gotten the heels turned on these now. I am working on some stitch patterns for the leg. After looking in my one lonely stitch pattern book I realized that if I'm going to design patterns I need more stitch pattern books for more ideas.

I made some project bags and gave them to my friends that knit with me at Barnes and Nobles on Thursday nights. We have a great time.

I did get my garden in finally. Things are growing nicely. We haven't had much rain so I have had to water it a lot. I am also picking blueberries. They are loaded this year. I seem to pick about a gallon of berries every time I go out there to pick them. It looks like next week the Blackberries will be starting to ripen.
Have a great day!!
God Bless You!!

Monday, June 16, 2008

I got the Spidey mittens done. Gave them to my grandson. Now I am working on some Flip Flop socks for my granddaughter. They look like they are too big but when I try them on her feet they seem to be just slightly big on her. Her feet are growing so fast.
I write down sizes in a little notebook for family member's socks and her feet are 1 and a half inches longer than they were the last time I made her a pair of socks. These Flip Flop socks are an entry for the sockdown in Ravelry. They are a do your own pattern. I am writing the pattern as I go along. I will upload it to Ravelry when I get done with it.
As far as the garden, I finally got it planted. It is quite late this year but we have a really long season. My blueberries are ready and I have been picking bowlfuls of them. I need to get out there this morning and pick some.
Have a great day!!
God Bless You!!

Spidey Mittens

I am working on my grandson's Spidey mittens. I got past the thumb hole by about 4 rows and realized that I had one of the thumb holes wrong and the mittens would have fit just one hand. So I had to frog one back and redo it. Now I have them right. It was quite a mess to undo.
I got my mulch for my garden and hopefully tomorrow I can get it all spread out and ready for the plants. My Blueberries are loaded and my blackberries are loaded now I just need to watch them for ripening. Our nut trees have nuts on them this year too. Last year the freeze got them and we had none. They look like they are going to be loaded this year too.
Have a great day!!

ok things look a lot better now. I just don't know what happened before there was nothing there to put the pictures in.
Anyway I am using the Freya pattern you can see it closer on this picture.

I am making these socks for my daughter for her birthday on the 29th. I think I have plenty of time to get them done. I am also entering them into the Sockdown May in Ravelry. I really do enjoy doing these Sockdown KALs. they keep me going on my socks. I really love the color of these socks. Too bad Knit Picks has discontinued it.
Have a great day!!

Knitting

Hi!! I am working on a pair of socks for my daughter.
I am going to try putting a picture in here. Not sure if it will work.

Here

Hi!!
Here is some yarn that my friend Morandia dyed. She is experimenting with dyes and yarn to sell. This has 800 yards. Since I am her friend I got first choice and I just couldn't resist this yarn. It is superwash fingerling weight.
I got my Sockdown April socks done finally. Now I have cast on for the may Sockdown socks. I am going to try doing a little cable again. I seem to have troubles with them but I will try again and see.
My iris's are really doing a blooming show this year so I included a picture of them. I think all of the rain helped them bloom a lot. They are really pretty in person.
Have a great day!! God Bless You!!

I Won!!!! I won the sockdown drawing for March.
Here is what I won. A nice Skein of "A Cowboy's Work is never done" From Sonny & Shear
and
They sent along some herbal teas too!
I am also showing a picture of the wiggle socks that I am working on for the April Sockdown. I am using up some of my leftover sock yarns on them.
I am almost done with them. I am really late on my start for the May Sockdown.
We had a really busy weekend. My Son in Law graduated from college on Saturday and we had a big cookout with about 20 people at our house. We all had a great time.
Have a great day!!
God Bless you!!

Bed Dolls

Hi!!
Here are some Bed Dolls that I made for my Granddaughters for Christmas of 2006.

I just now got around to taking pictures of them.

I think I had pictures of them but somehow in many computer changes they had gotten lost.

So now I finally got new ones and I have added them to my Ravelry projects.

We are supposed to get storms here tonight and tomorrow. Hopefully they will be gone by tomorrow night so that I can go to our Knitting get together at Barnes and Noble. We meet every Thursday night and have a good time talking, and knitting, and ready to teach others to knit or crochet too.
Have a great day!!
God Bless You!!

Mittens

Hi!!
I'm still working on my Icarsus Shawl and a pair of Flame wave socks.

I got these mittens done for my granddaughter.

Next I will be working on a pair of mittens for my grandson. Some Spidey ones. I downloaded the pattern from Ravelry but their chart was too dark. It had dark red and black squares and ona black and white printer they all came out almost the same color. so I had to lighten it up some.

Here it is lightened up some.

Anyway I'm going to attempt them.
Have a great day!!
God Bless you!!

Purl Heart Socks Pattern

Purl Heart Socks

I use a Turkish cast on. I cast on 16 stitches for each needle. Making the total on both needles of 32. I knit two socks on two circulars, toe up.

Increase two stitches per needle every other row till you get the desired amount of stitches that you need. I have (26 sts per needle. 52 total.)

I am a continental knitter so when I knit socks I prefer to purl. I purl across the Opposite needle. (Like if you look at your needles like a tea cup or a drinking glass. I purl on the opposite side that you would drink from). So these instructions will be purling most of the sock. If you prefer knitting you may need to adjust the way you do your lace heart.

The heart pattern takes up 13 stitches. So you need to do a little math to figure out where the thirteen pattern stitches are on the front of the sock.

Since I have 26 stitches per needle I would purl 6 sts then PM. Purl 13 sts PM. Purl remaining 7 sts. Purl across next 26 sts on other needle.

Heart Pattern: Across the 13 sts between markers. Then P across remaining sts of round.

Row 1: P6 yo, P2tog, P5

Row 2: P across all sts

Row 3: P5, yo, sl1, P2tog, psso, yo, P5

Row 4: P across all sts

Row 5: P4, yo, P2tog, P1, P2tog, yo, P4

Row 6: P across all sts

Row 7: P3, yo, P2tog, P3, P2tog, yo, P3

Row 8: P across all sts

Row 9: P2, yo, P2tog, P5, P2tog, yo, P2

Row 10: P across all sts

Row 11: P1, yo, P2tog, P7, P2tog, yo, P1

Row 12: P across all sts

Row 13: P2tog, yo, P3, yo, sl1, P2tog, psso, yo, P3, yo, P2tog

Row 14: P across all sts

Row 15: P1, P2tog, yo, P1, yo, P2tog, P1, P2tog, yo, P1, yo, P2tog, P1

Row 16: P across all sts

Purl around next 4 rounds.

Repeat heart pattern one more time.

While purling around the last row of the second heart pattern you can take the markers out.

Now you purl around the rounds until you get the length of the foot to where you need it for the heel. You can do whatever heel you like at this point.

I do an alternative heel described in ‘Crazy Toes and Heels” by Queen Kahuna. (http://www.queenkahuna-creations.com/ ) It is Short Row so I knit the foot till it is 1 1/2” inch less than the length that I need the foot to be.

Heel:

Work the heel on the opposite needles from the ones with your lace harts on it. You will be

working back and forth on this needle to turn the heel.

P2 sts onto stitch holder. P across stitches. Do the same for the second sock. Turn.

Slip 3 sts on another stitch holder. K across to next stitch holder. Do same for second sock. Now you have 2 Stitch holders on each sock. Turn.

1: sl 1 st onto stitch holder P across to next Stitch Holder. Repeat for Sock #2. Turn.

2: sl 1 st onto stitch holder K across to next Stitch Holder. Repeat for Sock #2. Turn

Repeat 1 & 2, till there are 10 sts left on each sock. If you have a wider heel you can leave more sts on the needles.

Above is an example of the heels with the stitch holders holding the stitches.

Now we start to do the turning of the heel.

K across to the st before holder.

Sl 1 st to right needle pick up purl bump from first st on holder K the slipped st and the purl bump together in back of st. Sl 1 st from holder onto right needle.

Repeat for sock #2 Turn.

1: sl 1 st P across to last st before holder. Sl st to right needle . Pick up Purl bump from next st on holder. P bump and slipped st together. Sl next stitch off of holder to right needle. Repeat for sock #2, Turn.

2: sl 1 st to right needle. K across to last st before holder. Sl 1 st to right needle pick up bump on back of next st on holder. K bump and slipped st together in back of st. Sl next st from holder onto right needle. Repeat for sock#2, Turn.

Repeat 1&2 till there is one stitch on stitch holders. On the purl row follow row 1 to last st on holder pick up purl bump of last st on holder and P with the slipped st just before it. Then P last st off of holder. Repeat for sock #2. P across pattern side of both socks. You will still have one stitch holder at the beginning of the next needle. With left needle pick up purl bump from st on holder then slip last st off holder onto left needle. P1, P bump and next st together. P across sock. Repeat for sock #2.

Heel is turned.

Continue Purling around both sides of both socks till you have them 4” inches from how long you want them to be.

Cuff Heart Pattern:

Now you need to take the number of stitches you have and subtract 39 (the amount of stitches that 3 heart patterns take up). Then divide the number of stitches that you have left by 3. You may need to add a couple of stitches to make it even. My stitches are a total of 52. After subtracting 39 I have 13 stitches left. Therefore I have to add 2 stitches to mine so that I will have 15 stitches divided by 3 will leave me with 5 stitches between heart patterns. I hope this isn’t too confusing.

P2, PM, P13, PM, P5, PM, P13, PM, P5, PM, P13, PM, P3.

Follow heart pattern between the markers that have 13 sts. P sts between other markers. Move markers as you go along.

After completing the heart pattern. Purl around socks.

Cuff:

P around socks for 4 more rows decreasing the amount of stitches that you increased just before the heart pattern.

Do a P2 K2 rib around socks until you have 2” of ribbing.

Bind off and weave in ends.

Hi!!

I got my daughters Heart socks done! I am writing the pattern to put into Ravelry. It will appear in this blog very soon.

I also finally got my Icarsus shawl started. We are doing a KAL in town here and in Ravelry.

I also have some Flame Wave Socks BY Ann Budd started for the March Sockdown in Ravelry, in the Sock Knitters Anonymous group. The pattern is in the Favorite Socks book. My tiger colors don't show the flame pattern very well.

I also started some mittens for my granddaughter. She was begging me for some. So I will have to make some for my grandson too.
Anyway I am doing strand knitting on them with a snowflake pattern that I found for a hat.
Pictures should come soon.
You can see all of my projects in Flicker by clicking on the box to the top left of this blog.

On the gardening news. I have seeds planted in little pots. Just waiting for them to spring forth. I planted Tomato, Banana Peppers, other Sweet Peppers, Thai Basil, Parsley, Chives, Cilantro, and Eggplant seeds.
